EVENTS
Zubyria Retreat hosts many events through the year. Our spring and summer picnics create an idyllic community event, designed to recreate our feelings at summer camp in childhood, or a family reunion, with the best and brightest people we know all sharing meals, activities, and getting to know each other a little more.
We welcome new members to the community, and would be happy to have you subscribe to our mailing list and join our next event. Future events are not posted to the website, but are open to subscribers of our email and telegram events group.
SPRING PICNIC
Our spring picnic is our biggest hit event, we bus people from Kyiv to Zubyria, share meals, beach swimming, bike riding, games in the yard, and in the evening a movie under the stars, or in the Litochky theater, before returning most of the guests by bus back to Kyiv, with many staying to camp on the Zubyria grounds and socialise by the bonfire in the evening.
SUMMER PICNIC
The summer picnic, similar to the spring picnic brings over 50 guests to celebrate our community and share these perfect summer days together. Many new connections are formed, and the community grows like the green grasses and forests of Zubyria. Barbecue, swimming, bike riding, camping, film screening, and a chance to meet some of the best and brightest people in Kyiv.
CHRISTMAS IN ZUBYRIA
A smaller more intimate event, Christmas is open to our closest friends and guests of the retreat. This year, the village carollers serenaded us in the new house HOUSE NAME, and we danced the dances we learned this summer, baked cookies and a large group dinner, and then joined the rest of our guests for a Christmas classic film screening. Guests who have booked the houses during events are welcome to join in the festivities!
FILM SCREENINGS
Zubyria is deeply connected to the Kyiv Cinema Society:
an organisation with over 300 active members, showing monthly sold-out theater screenings of films in their original language, with English subtitles, after which we discuss the films, their meanings and intentions, cultural context, and we learn together how we experience these films, helping deepen the experience and strengthen the community through shared communication and exploration of ideas.
Zubyria also has a smaller theater
on the property that is used for weekly screenings with our closest members. The community is active at every level, and we welcome involvement of new members.
